  1. Musee du Sabotier, Vosges, FranceĀ 

There is a place in the Vosges where you and the children can discover the art of clog making.

The wooden shoes that appear in fairy tales, but also in some characters of our childhood that we love ;

How are they made ? Are they still trendy ? This and much more to be discovered to this museum.

And above all : discover the magic of making things with your own hands.

2. Museum of Strawberries, Wepion .BelgiumĀ 

If you have been following my adventures and explorations with my children in and around Luxembourg since some years you may remember when we visited the Museum of Strawberries in Wepion Belgium. What an amazing experiecne šŸ™‚ The museum is a kids and adults little paradise. Interactive, with all these amazing informations on strawberries, with little activities you can try with the kids on the spot and so much more…

And the museum has an excellent location just by the river Meuse and perfect for a stroll with nice weather at the Promenade de Meuse.

3. International Museum of Carnival and Masks, Binche, BelgiumĀ 

And yes, there is a dedicated musuem for Carnival only approximately 2hrs from Luxembourg.

Masks, costumes and the traditions of carnival from all over the world, with empahsis to the UNESCO Carnival of Binche, Belgium through an immersive experience.

The visit stimulates knowledge, curiostiy, phantasy and a journey to the world of masks .

4. Museum of Telephones, Petitvoir, BelgiumĀ 

The collector and owner collected for 20 years telephones which he decided to exhibit.

Younger children may even see for the first time how telephones looked before.

There is even an extremely rare telelphone an Ericsson model dating back to 1890

5. EnergieMusee – Energy Museum Beckerich, LuxembourgĀ 

It is almost like a playground, do not be afraid to touch, and despite the small size, it has many nice things to discover.

Kids will love it as they will use all their senses, they will push buttons, turn handles and more.

You will learn about the energy supply in the municipality of Beckerich and if you do an individual visit you will enter the museum via an access code which adds up to the fun of the visit.

6. Archery Musem, Rxensart BelgiumĀ 

Yes you read that well šŸ™‚ there is a museum in Belgium and not far from Luxembourg dedicated to archery.

Grown ups and childre will be fascinated going through the history of archery and the use of bow from prehistoric times to today’s era.

You can even try archery and all equipment is provided šŸ™‚ The museum is inside a Tower :).

7. Fries Museum Brussels BelgiumĀ 

Of course there is no visit to Belgium without learning more about the Belgian fries šŸ™‚

8. Museum of Shoes, Hauenstein Germany (appox 2hrs from Luxembourg)

Yes a museum about shoes, who wouldn’t love to experience this?

You dive in the world of shoes with the children , you learn how shoes are made, the looks of shoes throught of centuries, interesting facts, machinery and so much more.

Extra tipp: the whole areas deserves a weekend stay , at least ! full of other nice things and experiences to enjoy šŸ™‚

9.Ā  Ā Musee de la Marionnette, Charleville Mezieres FranceĀ 

Charleville Mezieres is the capital of the art of pupetry.

Definitely one of the most interesting type of arts to discover with the childrem and learn more about it in interesting way.

The city of Charleville Mezieres is also hosting every September the world famous Festival de la Marionnette that attracts artists from all over the world and visitors alike.

10.Ā  Museum of Ironing, Longwy FranceĀ 

Indeed there is a museum very close to Luxembourg dedicated to irons, it is one of the largest collections in the world and showcases the evolution of ironing over the centuries.

Why not to show to small kids how it was in the past and how much it has changed today?

Maybe children can also imagine how ironing will be done in the future.

11. Museum of Watering Cans Giessen, GermanyĀ 

Oh yes it exists and it is actually pretty amazing : the museum of water cans !

There are water cans from different eras, in different shapes, colors and designs and eveyone will love this visit!

A very unusual and interesting museum that will surprise as you can not imagine how many different types of water cans exist !

Extra tip: In Giessen there is also a fantastic mathematics museum so you really will enjoy a great day with the kids
