A magical itinerary in the Netherlands : Hans & Gretel Pancake House

There is so much to write about this magical long weekend itinerary in the Netherlands where you and the children can experience some treasures. Our main aim was to visit the famous it seems Hans & Gretel Pancake House, a fairy tale like pancake house which will amaze you and the children. The below itinerary we did on a long weekend. However, now that we know the treatsures that this area has, we intend to go back for at least a week. The pancake house is approximatel 4 hours driving from Luxembourg.

1, Accommodation:

We chose to stay at Landal Waterpark Veluwemeer .  This is truly a paradise for famiiles. Individual accommodations in different sizes and capacity, build around water, with all weather tennis courts, playgrounds, huge indoor and outdoor swimming pool, table tennis, games, pet friendly, bike rental, mini car rental, indoor playground for younger children and more.

Our lovely house in the typical dutch architecture was really spacious and fully equipped: you need though to bring your own toiletries and towels. (towels you can also rent at the reception).

If you stay at Landal my tip is to download the Landal app on your phone where you have all the informaition available in your hand.

Here is how our home looked as well as some views of the landal waterpark Veluwemeer

Literally only like 7 minutes drive from Veluwemeer park, you can also it seems go by bicycles in a sunny weather.

What can i say ? This place is out of this world and is perfect for every age!

Not only the decorations are nothing like you have seen before, the whole experience will mesmerize you.

A fantasic cafe and restaurant with playful environment, with hidden slides and colorful deco, with 3 differently decorated big rooms, do not forget to check all of them are they are all truly unique. Check also the ceiling in the big room with the fireplace where everything is upside down !!!!!

A lovely playground in the underground floor as well for smaller kids.

As for the outdoors space you jaw will drop: different playgrounds, magical houses, labyrinths, candy houses, wooden structures, swings, slides, and more…take your time to stroll around. Stroller friendly also.

In your order try also the witches drink that come in glasses that glow with led lights and which you can keep after as souvenirs.

This place is a MUST !!!

Extra tip: reserve online ahead of time of your visit. The place is very popular and you will need to reserve even many weeks before.

If you visit for the first time i recommend you to book tha 11 o clock experience when it opens as when you arrive there is almost noone and you can take loads of photos and videos.

2. Visit AVIODROMOM the biggest aviation theme park /musum in the Netherlands

Only 10 min drive from Landal Waterpark Weluvemeer

https://www.aviodrome.nl/en

If you and or the children like airplanes and aviation this is the place to be.

A fantastic interactive museun explaning the history of world and dutch aviation , with playgrounds, 4D experience, different flight simulators what kids can also enjoy (mine tried the F-104 fighter jet simulation), indoor playground, shop, cafeteria and snacks and a great paper planes activity. It also explains about airplane engines & turbines in a way that everyone can understand 🙂

The museum is both indooors & outdoors so take your time to enjoy. Parking is available on site (paid).

3, Visit MICROPIA in Amsterdam

https://www.artis.nl/en/artis-micropia

MICROPIA is only 50 minutes drive from Veluwemeer and it is a museum that I highly recommend to all (f0r children beloew 12 years is free, I would say from 8-10 years can be enjoyed).

What is MICROPIA? As the website explains it is the world’s first museum about microbes. In this interactive science museum, you will be able to see something you can see almost nowhere else: microbes

The exhibition is so well done for everyone to understand ! The design of the museum is amazing and you do not want to leave.

Take your time to explore and check the exhibits. All your senses will be used. You will learn a lot of thing you didn’t know about it.

But in this case not only you but also the children. We booked the tickes online.

Do not miss it!
